Manchester United have been heavily linked with a move for Bryan Mbeumo in recent weeks, but a move for the Brentford attacker is now in major doubt.
Initially, it was believed that Manchester United are favourites to sign the 25-year-old Cameroon International. However, United In Focus are now reporting that things have changed since the arrival of Tottenham on the scene.
Then North London have appointed Thomas Frank as their manager, and the Danish boss could play a key role in helping his new club sign Mbeumo. The report claims that the player could be attracted by the prospect of staying in London next season.
Tottenham will be able to offer him Champions League football next season as well. It remains to be seen whether Manchester United can still salvage the move. They are reportedly looking at alternatives now.
Graeme Bailey has now revealed that some people within football are not so sure about the player joining Manchester United anymore. It remains to be seen how the situation unfolds.
Bailey said: “United are not going to get into whether they are worried, but I can say that within football, a number of people no longer believe he is certain to move to Old Trafford. “United had clearly seen off the likes of Newcastle previously, but this Spurs interest with the chance of staying in London is different and certainly a genuine option for him now.”

It is no secret that Manchester United need a quality attacker like him. The 25-year-old would have added goals, technical ability and unpredictability in the final third. He is well settled in English football, and he could have made an instant impact at Old Trafford.
Losing out on the 25-year-old will be a huge blow for Manchester United. They are in desperate need of some ingenuity in the attack. Mbeumo seemed tailor-made for them.
He scored 20 goals last season and picked up nine assists along the way. Frank labelled him as “incredible” last season. He could have been a transformative addition for the club.
