Manchester United “are currently unlikely to bid for Nicolas Jackson. A lot would have to change for that to alter in the coming weeks”, per Ben Jacobs.
The Red Devils are in the market for a striker to complete their new look attack following the addition of Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha.
However, they could not capture Liam Delap, who preferred Chelsea to the 20-time English top-flight champions.
Rumours of interest in Viktor Gyokeres, Hugo Ekitike, and Victor Osimhen did not materialise much. Then Jackson entered the rumour mill.
Jackson is available for sale after Chelsea signed Joao Pedro and Delap. He might struggle to reclaim his starting berth, and a Stamford Bridge exit has not been ruled out.
Rumours broke out that Man Utd are interested in his services.
Hailed as a ‘big talent’ by Mauricio Pochettino, Jackson is a promising striker and would be a decent pick-up in different circumstances.
It appears a move to Man Utd is not on the cards for now. The new name that has been gathering momentum is that of RB Leipzig ace Benjamin Sesko.
Sesko scored 21 goals last season. Highly-touted since his early days, many expect him to become one of the best strikers of his generation.
The problem is that he is still far from fulfilling that promise despite already showing glimpses of his incredible talent. His size, athleticism, and speed are remarkable.
Still, he is not the finished product and needs time to fine-tune his skills. He may not get that chance at Man Utd, where the spotlight will be on him from the first minute.
Rasmus Hojlund crumbled under that weight of expectation. The Red Devils may be better served finding an established centre-forward to anchor their new-look attack.
The problem is that the market isn’t exactly overflowing with options, but Man Utd can still do better than Jackson and Sesko.
