Man Utd among sides competing in inaugural World Sevens Football tournament | OneFootball

Manchester United are among four of eight teams announced for the upcoming World Sevens Football tournament to be played in Portugal.

The Red Devils join Ajax, Bayern München, and Benfica as the first teams announced with four more to join the seven-a-side tournament that will be played at Estoril's  Estádio António Coimbra da Mota from May 21st-23rd.

With United still on the trail of European football and having a FA Cup final at Wembley on May 18th, the competition could serve as a celebration for the players – albeit an inevitably competitive one.

"This is a really exciting opportunity to be part of something new for the women’s game," United manager Marc Skinner said about his side's participation.

"Our only focus right now is on finishing the domestic season as strongly as possible in the WSL and the FA Cup; then we can travel to Portugal to enjoy what promises to be an entertaining three days of fast, fun, seven-a-side football."
