RB Leipzig centre-back Castello Lukeba is expected to be the subject of a huge summer transfer battle, according to a report in Germany.

22-year-old Lukeba, a left-footed defender, had plenty of admirers in 2023 when he made the switch from Lyon to Leipzig, but he has gone from strength to strength since and Europe's top clubs are beginning to take notice.

Real Madrid are long-term admirers but declined to pursue a move last summer as they wanted to see Lukeba rack up more experience. According to SPORTBILD, Los Blancos are incredibly happy with what they've seen.

Madrid are now looking at snapping Lukeba up this summer but appear set to face competition from the Premier League, where Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester United have all voiced an interest in the Frenchman.

Lukeba signed a new contract with Leipzig in October and is tied to the Bundesliga side until 2029, but his new deal includes a release clause of €90m (£75.1m), which the defender believes is a fair valuation of his services.

It is claimed that Lukeba's representatives are already looking for a blockbuster summer transfer away from Leipzig and are in the process of encouraging suitors to make their interest known.

Leipzig have proven willing to negotiate on release clauses, which need to be paid in one lump sum to be formally triggered. The Bundesliga side could entertain offers for a slightly higher fee on a payment plan, which benefits the buying side.
