Matthjis de Ligt will miss the World Cup for the Netherlands after undergoing back surgery.
The Manchester United defender has been sidelined since December, and is now expected to return at the beginning of next season.

“Since November I have done everything, pushing myself in every session and exploring every option, to get back to doing what I love, playing football,” de Ligt said in a statement.
