Manchester City confirmed on Tuesday that they have signed Italian goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma from PSG for €35 million (£30.3 million). Donnarumma completed the move a day earlier and is set to replace Ederson.

Ederson has joined Fenerbahçe in a deal valued at around €14 million (£12.1 million), according to The Athletic. DAZN and SportMediaset reporter Orazio Accomando also reported that City’s agreement with PSG includes the €35 million fee plus up to €4 million in add-ons.

With his transfer to Manchester City finalized, Donnarumma has finally spoken about the move. He also shared his admiration for manager Pep Guardiola, praising the coach for wanting him to join their project.

Manchester City have a new goalkeeper, but former Liverpool striker Stan Collymore believes that Manchester United should’ve made a serious push for Donnarumma. The Red Devils did land a goalkeeper during the transfer window. However, to pass on a Champions League and UEFA Euro winner confused Collymore.

“I’m surprised that Man United didn’t throw their hat in the ring for Donnarumma,” Collymore wrote in his latest column for CaughtOffside. “A winner, an excellent shot stopper, a good marshaller of a defence. In terms of Lammens, who knows? With goalkeepers that haven’t been tested at elite level – and the Belgian league isn’t elite level – it is that it’s a toss of a coin.

“In terms of the Emi Martinez scenario… do I think he would have been a good goalkeeper for them? Yes I do I also think Donnarumma would have been a very good goalkeeper for Man United, considering this type of goalkeeper that they’ve brought in.”
