In a recent report, Fichajes revealed that Manchester City are eyeing a move for Barcelona midfielder Marc Bernal. It has been mentioned that the Mancunian giants are showing interest in securing the services of the Spanish talent this off-season.

Bernal’s Impressive Form In La Liga

Bernal enjoyed a good run of form at the Spanish club in the previous campaign when he produced a run of impressive displays for them in the middle of the park. The 19-year-old did well to score five times and secure one assist in 33 matches for Barcelona last season across multiple competitions.

The talented teenager is currently among the best young midfielders in La Liga. Hence, it is no wonder that Man City are hoping to snap him up this summer.

His current contract at the Nou Camp will expire in the summer of 2029, which could make it tough for the Mancunian club to sign him on the cheap later this year.

Should Manchester City Boss Enzo Maresca Bring Bernal On Board?

Bernal loves a tackle and can sense the danger well to secure possession back for his team on the defensive end of the field. He usually puts his foot through the ball when needed and is an accurate passer as well from midfield.

The Spanish sensation can even chip in by scoring and creating a few important goals for his team. Bernal mainly operates as a defensive midfielder but can also function as a box-to-box midfielder if asked to do so by his manager. However, only time will tell whether he can make a smooth transition to life in the Premier League if Man City manage to sign him later this year.

We can expect Bernal to bring more quality and depth to Enzo Maresca’s midfield. He is good enough to challenge for a regular first-team spot at the Etihad Stadium next season.

At 19, Bernal has got the potential to be a future star in the Premier League as long as he continues to improve with each year. Therefore, Maresca would be wise to try everything in his power to bring him on board before the end of this transfer window.
