According to Superdeporte, Manchester City have signed Elliot Anderson for around 134 million euros during the 2026 World Cup. The club’s outlay marks a historic move in the market.

The 23-year-old leaves Nottingham Forest to become the most expensive English footballer in history and City’s costliest signing. The sum eclipses the fee City previously paid for Jack Grealish.

Anderson has been one of this season’s breakout performers. After departing Newcastle and establishing himself at Nottingham Forest, he has kicked on through his physicality, reading of the game and versatility.

His form has made him a regular pick for Thomas Tuchel with England and one of the tournament’s standout names.

Comfortable as a holding midfielder, a number eight or in a more advanced role, he offers balance and range. Some English media compare him to Rodri for that equilibrium, and City view him as central to their next project.
