Manchester City are looking to sign Raphael Onyedika from Club Brugge to add to their midfield ranks in the summer transfer window, as per a new report.
Hugo Viana is set to take over from Txiki Begiristain in the coming months to launch a new era at the Etihad Stadium after a sub-standard campaign that saw Manchester City fail to mount a challenge for the Premier League and UEFA Champions League titles.
Kevin De Bruyne has recently expressed disappointment over the nature of contract talks with Manchester City officials that led to him deciding it was time to move from the Etihad Stadium.
Bernardo Silva could also follow the Belgian midfielder through the exit door following reports that the club have told the Portugal international he does not feature in their plans past the summer transfer window amid interest from Benfica and the Saudi Pro League.
Matheus Nunes is also a contender to leave the four-in-a-row Premier League winners after recent comments made by Pep Guardiola hinted the 2023 signing from Wolves has no future playing in his natural, preferred position in midfield.
Mateo Kovacic has enjoyed the best goalscoring season of his career this term and netted in Manchester City’s recent Premier League wins over Crystal Palace and Everton to take the Blues a few steps closer to securing Champions League football for the 2025-26 campaign.
Nico Gonzalez has done well to deputise in the holding midfielder position since his £50 million arrival from Porto in January and will improve in the years to come whilst training alongside and learning from Ballon d’Or winner Rodri.
However, Manchester City are looking to bolster their midfield ranks at the end of the season and have entered the race to sign Club Brudgge midfielder Raphael Onyedika in the summer transfer window, as reported by Soccernet and relayed by Sempre Milan.
The 23-year-old Nigerian has just over two years remaining on his current deal with Club Brugge and is believed to have changed his agency recently in order to broker a move this summer amid interest from Borussia Dortmund, Paris Saint-Germain and Porto.
AC Milan are also understood to be keen on signing Onyedika, who remains unlikely to move to the Etihad Stadium owing largely to the fact that City did address the position in January by signing Gonzalez and with Rodri nearing a return to action following a lengthy spell on the sidelines, there are more important areas in the squad to address in the summer.
