Manchester City are going after Andrea Cambiaso with the intention of purchasing him in January despite the resistance put up by Juventus. The Bianconeri would rather discuss the deal next summer but are bracing for a lucrative offer, Sky informs.
The Sky Blues have spared no expenses this window. They signed Abdukodir Khusanov from Lens, Vitor Reis from Palmeiras, and Omar Marmoush from Eintracht Frankfurt. The Azzurri star could be next.
Manchester City have been negotiating with the entourage of Cambiaso, who’d eventually sign a contract deal until 2029, while Juventus will try to hold on. The Old Lady is looking to cash in €80M.
According to Alfredo Pedullà, the Bianconeri don’t consider almost any of their players untouchable provided the offer match they request. In the end, they could settle for €55M plus rich add-ons. It’d allow them to spend for multiple defenders.
He hasn’t been great this season after an ankle injury, but he’s tailor-made to play under Pep Guardiola given his versatility and technique. Thiago Motta has taken full advantage of that too before his ongoing slump.
Money talks, and it’s entirely possible the suitors will table a bid that’s hard to pass despite his quality and attachment to the side. The rumors about pricey acquisitions in the back hints at a big sale. The same goes for the acquisition of Alberto Costa in a role that wasn’t a top priority. They’d have to add two left-backs if he left unless they find a center-back who can fare well on the wing too.
