According to a report from The Athletic, Manchester City are “intensifying their efforts” to sign Abdukodir Khusanov from RC Lens this winter.

The Premier League side are on a three-game unbeaten run but had spent much of November and December dealing with a terrible run of form that saw them win two matches in fourteen games across all competitions.

Manchester City are looking for answers and will turn to the transfer market to try and bolster their squad for the second half of the season. In defence, the club want to bring in Khusanov who has had a breakthrough season for Lens.

The defender slotted into the side as a ready-made replacement for Kevin Danso (26) who was expected to leave during the summer. However, Danso’s departure broke down at the last second when he failed his Roma medical.

The Athletic writes that Manchester City have not reached an agreement with Lens but discussions are advancing.
