All Premier League fixtures on 13 and 14 September will be dedicated to Inside Matters including Sunday’s home match against Manchester United.
As part of the Premier League’s Inside Matters campaign and to mark World Suicide Prevention Day, earlier this week the Premier League and clubs launched ‘Together Against Suicide’, a new initiative to raise awareness of the help available for people who are having suicidal thoughts.
The initiative is backed by all 20 Premier League clubs and has been created with suicide prevention charity Samaritans, who provide people in the UK with free, 24/7 emotional support.
Recent data highlights a growing concern in Greater Manchester and the North West. In 2023 the North West had the highest suicide rate in England, and Manchester recorded the highest number of suicides in the region.
Suicide continues to disproportionately affect men. Nationally, three out of four deaths by suicide involve males, a trend which is consistent in Manchester.
The Club are proud to offer free weekly mental health support for males over the age of 18.
Andy’s Man Club at the Etihad Stadium
To help fans access the support they need, Andy’s Man Club sessions take place in the East Stand of the Etihad Stadium from 19:00-21:00 every Monday evening (excluding Bank Holidays).
Since the first session 16 months ago, Manchester City and the Halifax-based suicide prevention charity have continued to work together to offer weekly free peer-to-peer support for local males.
During this time there has been over 60 sessions held at the Etihad Stadium and over 165 unique participants, with an average of two first time attendees at every session.
Any man or individual identifying as a male over the age of 18 can attend, there is no requirement to be a Season Ticket Member, holder of a Cityzens Official Membership, Manchester City fan or even a football fan. Additionally, the sessions are free, with no pre-registering or identification required and there is no pressure to speak at any session.
If you or someone you know is interested in attending an Andy’s Man Club session at the Etihad more information can be found here.
