Manchester City are leading the race to sign Brentford right-back Michael Kayode.
Pep Guardiola wants to bring in a recognised right-back, with midfielder Matheus Nunes having deputised in the role for much of the campaign.
Kayode has impressed as part of a Brentford side who sit fifth in the Premier League table. The Bees have overcome the loss of key figures Bryan Mbeumo, Yoane Wissa and Christian Norgaard, alongside manager Thomas Frank, in the summer to challenge for Europe.
Kayode has been a key cog in the side. His long throws have been a potent weapon for the West Londoners, while the defender ranks among the Premier League’s top performers for percentage of aerials won (3rd), successful take-ons (8th), and interceptions (10th).
Inevitable interest has emerged with Kayode a candidate to fill a problem position at the Etihad.
City are not alone in admiring Kayode. CaughtOffside are claiming that Bayern Munich, Juventus and Inter Milan are also monitoring his progress.
However, the Citizens have the most ‘serious interest’ in the 21-year-old. Brentford signed Kayode from Fiorentina for a fee of £17m and will demand a significant profit to consider a sale.
