Speaking on the Transfer Insider podcast, journalist Pete O’Rourke revealed that Manchester City have been offered a chance to sign Chelsea full-back Malo Gusto this summer. O’Rourke said,
“I think Gusto potentially could be lured away. Obviously, Chelsea have brought in a new right back in Palestra from Atalanta, and you’ve got Reece James also, so there is a lot of competition for places at Stamford Bridge.
“There is a mutual admiration between Gusto and Enzo Maresca. They’ve worked together before and I think Maresca is a big fan of Gusto. If Man City do firm up their interest, it might mean that he is open to making the move to the Etihad.”
Gusto had an impressive campaign at the West London club as he put in a string of decent displays for them in the Premier League. The 23-year-old registered three goals and five assists in 49 appearances for Chelsea last season across various competitions.
The French talent is currently among the best full-backs in the Premier League. Thus, it is no wonder that Man City are hoping to get a deal over the line for him later this year.
His current deal at Stamford Bridge will expire in 2030, which could make it tough for the Mancunian club to sign him on the cheap this off-season.

Gusto loves a tackle and can time his challenges well to make some crucial interceptions for his team inside his half. He usually clears his lines when needed and is a decent crosser of the ball.
The French sensation can even make a few driving runs with the ball on the right flank. Gusto is primarily a right-back but can also operate as a left-back or as a right-sided wide player if told to do so. He already knows the Premier League well and won’t take much time to adjust to life at the Mancunian club.
Gusto would enhance the quality of Man City boss Enzo Maresca’s defence. He has what it takes to fight for regular first-team football at Stamford Bridge.
At 23, Gusto has a lot of room to grow as a footballer. Therefore, Maresca should consider getting him on board this summer.
