A brand new youth soccer club has been launched by Manchester City in the United States, the club have confirmed.

City Football Group (CFG) has established the United States as a cornerstone of its global multi-club model, primarily through New York City FC (NYCFC) since its inaugural MLS season back in 2015.

Over the course of the last 11 years, NYCFC has evolved from a fledgling expansion team into a league powerhouse, capturing the MLS Cup in 2021 and the Campeones Cup in 2022.

As of March 2026, the club has also reached a historic milestone with the construction of its permanent 25,000-seat stadium in Willets Point, Queens – which is set to become the first soccer-specific stadium in New York City – fully funded by the group.

Introducing Man City’s First Full-Time US Youth Academy

Now, in a statement issued by Manchester City, the Premier League giants have also launched a new youth soccer club, ‘Manchester City North Texas FC’, to deliver coaching and development-focused training for boys and girls from ages 8-19.

Manchester City North Texas FC will be the Club’s first full-time youth development presence in the United States, building on the success of Manchester City Football Programs, which provides “coaching expertise to young players across 38 cities in 14 countries, with over 40,000 participants each year”.

Why City Football Group chose Dallas for Expansion

The club states that the new initiative will include teams playing in competitive leagues and tournaments across the USA, as well as talent centres for youth players of all clubs, school-based programs and community-based programs across the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex.

The club will offer seasonal camps and exclusive experiences, including opportunities for players to train at the City Football Academy in Manchester, while full-time Manchester City coaches will relocate to Dallas to deliver the club’s development methodology.

Cavan Sullivan Update: Philadelphia Union and Manchester

The City Football Group and Manchester City have already shown interest in US-developed talent through the acquisition of 16-year-old wonderkid Cavan Sullivan, who remains one of the most anticipated arrivals in the club’s future pipeline.

While the teenager officially signed in 2024, he continues his development with the Philadelphia Union until his 18th birthday in September 2027, but could move to a European satellite club – such as Lommel SK or Girona – if he outgrows MLS before turning 18.

Having already visited the City Football Academy last summer for familiarisation training, Cavan Sullivan is being carefully managed to ensure he is physically and tactically prepared for the jump to European football, with club coaches pleased with his rise in the United States.
