Manchester City appear set to recall Jahmai Simpson-Pusey from his loan spell at Celtic. The central defender was an unused sub as Wilfried Nancy’s side were beaten 2-0 at Fir Park.
The 20-year-old arrived in the summer and was given time to bed in by Brendan Rodgers but failed to make any sort of an impact, falling behind in the pecking order.
According to The Daily Mail, City will recall the defender after he made just one appearance for the Hoops.
Pep Guardiola and the City hierarchy will have sanctioned the loan move for JSP to Celtic on the basis that it would allow him to compete in European football and play regularly; however, this move has not panned out as anyone would’ve hoped for.
City will likely loan the defender out again with teams in the English Championship expected to be interested in the player. Meanwhile, Celtic need defensive reinforcements with Cameron Carter-Vickers and Alistair Johnston sidelined. It remains to be seen whether Wilfried Nancy will be trusted to oversee a transfer window or if he will be in situ come the end of the window.
