WSL Full-Time were informed of the news via an official club press release from The Cityzens this morning.
Knaak joins Manchester City from Swedish OBOS Damallsvenskan champions FC Rosengård. The 28-year-old has spent the last three seasons with the Malmö-based club. While Knaak is known for her defensive qualities, the player proved to be a danger in the opposition box in 2024. She netted 11 goals in 19 league outings for former club FC Rosengård last season.
The defender has also turned out for SC 07 Bad Neuenahr, Bayer 04 Leverkusen and SC Freiburg in her club career to date.
On the international stage, Knaak has represented Germany at various youth levels but she is still awaiting her senior debut for her country.
After signing for Manchester City, Knaak said “It feels exciting to be here. I think the WSL is the best league in the world right now. When I heard about the interest, I didn’t have to think about it because it’s such a big, big opportunity which I wanted to take.
“It was helpful for me that I already know Therese [Sjögran]. I really trust her and her abilities, so it gives me a good feeling. The Club has the highest ambitions and goals, and this also matches my own ambitions.
“I’m very proud and I feel honoured to be part of this big Club. I can’t wait to get started.”
Knaak is Manchester City’s first signing of the January transfer window.
