It’s third-top against third-bottom in the Premier League at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday, as Manchester City play host to Leeds United, with kick-off at 3pm.

City will look to respond from back-to-back defeats, following a 2-1 loss at Newcastle with a surprise midweek Champions League defeat at home to Bayer Leverkusen.

Pep Guardiola made a host of changes for Tuesday’s clash with Bayer, with City on the end of a 0-2 setback at the Etihad.

Leeds head to Manchester having lost their last three fixtures, a run which has seen them slip into the relegation zone.

Manchester City Team News vs Leeds

Guardiola made no fewer than 10 changes from their loss at St James’ Park for the midweek European match, failing to find the net despite having 19 shots against Leverkusen.

The biggest surprise was the decision to drop Erling Haaland to the bench, with Omar Marmoush leading the line in a 4-3-3 formation.

The Norwegian looks certain to start against Leeds, the city where he was born, while the likes of Phil Foden and Bernardo Silva are also expected to return.

Guardiola admitted he made ‘too many’ changes and that he might have been ‘too nice’ to ‘involve everyone’ on Tuesday.

The centre-back pairing looks likely to revert to type as well, with Josep Gvardiol and Ruben Dias set to replace John Stones and Nathan Ake.

Rodri has not been part of the matchday squad for the last four matches and the Ballon D’Or winner is not expected to feature on Saturday.

Statement needed for City

Having slipped seven points behind leaders Arsenal, it looks like Guardiola’s men can’t afford any more slip ups before the end of the year.

The 10-time top-flight title winners have already lost four games in their opening 12 league fixtures, although just one of those defeats came at the Etihad.

The fixture list looks kind to City over the month, with five of their next seven league games coming against teams in the bottom half of the table.

Leeds’ away form – with just one win on the road this season – makes them look like good opposition for City to get back on track.

The West Yorkshire outfit have lost the last four meetings between the teams, with City scoring 16 goals over that run of matches.
