Manchester City take on Arsenal today at Wembley in this season’s Carabao Cup final. Today’s match is the first opportunity for silverware to be claimed for the 2025/26 season, and Pep Guardiola’s side will be eager to seize the opportunity on offer. Arsenal will rightly enter today’s match as favorites, but City have every chance of beating Mikel Arteta’s side. Any team with the quality of this City side is every chance of picking up a victory in a cup final. Although the task in front of Pep Guardiola’s side won’t be easy, they are more than capable of picking up a huge victory at Wembley. However, they will have to be at their best to beat Arsenal.
Manchester City are fortunate to have very little serious injury concerns heading into today’s Carabao Cup final. Josko Gvardiol will miss today’s match due to injury. The Croatian international isn’t expected to return until the final stages of this season. However, that scenario does seem unlikely.
Marc Guehi is ineligible to play in today’s match. Due to the fact that Guehi was signed by Manchester City after the first-leg of Manchester City’s Carabao Cup semi-final tie against Newcastle, the England international is unavailable to play at Wembley.
Outside of Gvardiol and Guehi, Pep Guardiola does have a full squad to choose from. In terms of selection, there is no excuse for Pep Guardiola’s side today.
Pep Guardiola told the media on Friday that James Trafford will start in goal for today’s match. Today’s Carabao Cup final against Arsenal at Wembley is a huge occasion for Trafford to play on the biggest stage.
The remainder of the Manchester City starting eleven does seem to pick itself. However, whether or not Antoine Semenyo starts over Jeremy Doku or Rayan Cherki seems to be the biggest selection query.
