Imagem do artigo:Manchester City vs Liverpool: Latest City injury news and predicted City starting eleven

Manchester City face Liverpool today in a massive Premier League encounter. Both teams will be desperate for three points at the Etihad Stadium today. Pep Guardiola’s side will be looking to take advantage of yesterday’s results and cement themselves in the top four. Arne Slot’s side will be eager to capitalise on Arsenal’s defeat to West Ham yesterday and add to their lead at the top of the Premier League table.

It promises to be an enthralling encounter at the Etihad. Here is the latest Manchester City injury news and my predicted City starting eleven for today’s match.

Latest Manchester City injury news

Manchester City have four players unavailable for today’s match. Rodri, Manuel Akanji, John Stones and Oscar Bobb will all miss today’s match. John Stones appears set for a lengthy spell on the sidelines due to the thigh injury he sustained against Real Madrid. Pep Guardiola told the media on Friday that Stones will likely require surgery on the injury. That is a blow for Stones and Manchester City. The injury also casts doubt on John Stones’ future past this season.

Erling Haaland is in doubt for today’s game due to the knee injury he sustained against Newcastle last weekend. Haaland missed City’s 3-1 defeat to Real Madrid due to that injury. Pep Guardiola told the media on Friday that it remains unclear if Haaland will play today’s match. That will be known when the starting lineups are announced ahead of kickoff.

Predicted City starting eleven

Ederson: I can’t see Ederson being replaced by Stefan Ortega today so I expect him to start today’s match.

Rico Lewis: Lewis didn’t start against Real Madrid but he did play well against Newcastle last weekend. That display should see him return to the starting lineup today.

Ruben Dias: Dias wasn’t at his best against Real Madrid. But he should be better for the run and I expect him to start against Liverpool.

Abdukodir Khusanov: Khusanov has been impressive of late for Pep Guardiola’s side. He is the future of City’s defence and I’m hoping to see him start alongside Dias today.

Josko Gvardiol: An automatic selection at left-back and if Gvardiol plays well both going forward and defensively he could have a key role to play.

Nico: The Spanish midfielder could be the key player in today’s game. If he dictates the midfield battle he could set City up for a big performance.

Bernardo Silva: It’s out of Bernardo, Kovacic or Gundogan to play in midfield but I expect Bernardo to start.

Kevin De Bruyne: De Bruyne’s time with Manchester City is winding down. I expect him to start today and hopefully he can put in a vintage De Bruyne display.

Savinho: I wouldn’t be surprised to see Jeremy Doku start but I believe Savinho will start on the right wing.

Omar Marmoush: He scored a hat trick in his last Premier League game and I expect him to play in a similar position to the one he played in against Newcastle. That is entirely dependent on if Erling Haaland is available for today’s match.

Erling Haaland: If Haaland is fit he will start. Manchester City missed him against Real Madrid so the hope is that he is fit enough to start today’s massive fixture.
