Pep Guardiola and Manchester City had a 28-man travelling squad make the trip to West London on Friday evening ahead of this weekend’s FA Cup Final.
The Etihad Stadium club travel south for what will be their third consecutive appearance at this stage of the most prestigious cup competition in the country, and certainly one of the most iconic in European football.
City will be hoping it will be a second triumph in three years after they claimed the FA Cup title en route to a historic Treble back in 2023, defeating Manchester United in a Final that featured the fastest-ever goal in a Wembley showpiece courtesy of Ilkay Gundogan.
In a season hampered by injury and fitness struggles, there has certainly been some light at the end of that particularly dark tunnel, as the FA Cup Final comes at a time when Manchester City have just one player sidelined from all activity due to injury.
The last few weeks has seen the likes of Rodri and Oscar Bobb take significant strides in their own work towards on-field competitive action, while Nathan Ake is back in training following surgery on a foot issue.
As such, that has allowed Pep Guardiola to travel to Wembley Stadium will an exciting, full compliment of players, although only 20 will be able to be listed on Manchester City’s matchday squad list against Crystal Palace on Saturday afternoon.
As per photographers on the ground at Manchester Piccadilly station on Friday, this is the complete Manchester City squad list that has made the journey to the capital ahead of Saturday afternoon’s fixture:
Goalkeepers: Ederson, Stefan Ortega Moreno, Scott Carson.
Defenders: Ruben Dias, Manuel Akanji, John Stones, Josko Gvardiol, Nathan Ake, Rico Lewis, Nico O’Reilly, Abdukodir Khusanov, Vitor Reis, Matheus Nunes.
Midfielders: Nico Gonzalez, Rodri, Mateo Kovacic, Ilkay Gundogan, Kevin De Bruyne, Bernardo Silva, Claudio Echeverri, James McAtee, Phil Foden.
Forwards: Oscar Bobb, Savinho, Omar Marmoush, Erling Haaland, Jack Grealish, Jeremy Doku.
John Stones has travelled but is highly unlikely to play any role in the fixture, and is more part of the contingent as is tradition for Manchester City in showpiece finals, including their full first-team roster for the occasion.
The same applies for Claudio Echeverri, who has been a part of several travelling squads but is yet to be named on a teamsheet under Guardiola, while Rodri is unlikely to be risked as he continues recovery from a serious knee problem despite featuring in full first-team training.
This will also be the final Wembley appearance for Kevin De Bruyne as he closes in on an exit from Manchester City after 10 years at the club, and what better motivation than to give one of English football’s greatest-ever stars the ultimate send-off through major silverware.
