Manchester United beat Aston Villa 2-0 at Old Trafford in their final game of the 2024/25 Premier League season. Here are our player ratings from the game.
(A score of 6 is around average)
Altay Bayindir 6 – Didn’t have an awful lot to do. Almost cost United when he failed to hold on to the ball, allowing Morgan Rogers to guide the ball into the back of the net, but the referee came to his rescue. Lucky boy.
Victor Lindelof 7 – Likely his last game at Old Trafford and a solid performance to mark the occasion.
Harry Maguire 7 – Another accomplished performance. Demonstrated some silky skills inside the box to set up Diogo Dalot for a chance.
Ayden Heaven 8.5 – Brilliant! Barely put a foot wrong on his return to the side. Dealt properly with Ollie Watkins and had an answer for everything that Villa threw at him. Unfortunately, he picked up an injury. The sky is the limit for Heaven.
Noussair Mazraoui 6 – Was doing well, getting involved in attacking plays but his momentum was halted by what looked like a hamstring injury.
Casemiro 7.5 – Classy display, especially in the second half, while United were looking for a goal against 10-man Villa. Hit the woodwork with a superb curling effort. Exceptional in midfield.
Bruno Fernandes 7.5 – Took some time to get going but once he did, he never looked back. Made things happen in the middle of the park and had a few good cracks at goal, but just lacked the finishing touch today. A good way to finish the season.
Patrick Dorgu 7 – Slowly refining his game going forward and he’s certainly improving. Delivered some good crosses and provided fantastic width and overloads down the left.
Amad 9 – Sensational. Broke the deadlock with an excellent headed finish and won the penalty that sealed the victory and secured all three points.
Mason Mount 6.5 – Started well, finding himself on the end of a few good chances. Combined well with Dorgu and Fernandes but he faded just a little bit as the game progressed. A good performance nonetheless.
Rasmus Hojlund 4 – A little bit better than he has been this season but still not good enough. Missed two very clear-cut opportunities, one of which saw him have the goal at his mercy after Mainoo won the ball high up.
Diogo Dalot 6 – Bright and lively when he came, even striking the post with a powerful shot. Unfortunately, it seems like he was rushed back as he was taken off during the break.
Kobbie Mainoo 7 – Superb. Just what you need from your sub. Created a very good chance for Hojlund and looked dangerous himself. A few excellent passes and long balls that helped sink the visitors.
Christian Eriksen 8 – Impactful off the bench. Scored from the penalty spot on his final game at Old Trafford. Could have had two but his free-kick effort just went over the bar. What a player!
Jonny Evans 6 – Slotted comfortably in the backline and helped United get over the line. Could also be the last time we’ve seen him in a United shirt.
Chido Obi 5 – Just OK. Not a lot of time to have a meaningful impact.
