United are now winless in their last three home games against Bournemouth, with their last victory coming in January 2023 where they secured a 3-0 win under former manager Erik Ten Hag.

As it happened

Manchester United started the game well and produced a dominant display in the first half.

Chances for Amad Diallo and Bruno Fernandes were blocked by Tyler Adams, with a penalty appeal also waved away from the referee.

Adams went off in the fourth minute due to a knee ligament injury with Alex Scott replacing him.

United had more chances at goal through Casemiro and Mason Mount, before Amad eventually put the hosts in the 13th minute after nodding the ball into an empty net.

Ruben Amorim’s men continued to press forward in the first half, controlling possession and exerting their dominance over Bournemouth in first twenty five minutes.

Bournemouth’s first big chance came from Tavernier which was saved by Senne Lammens.

Five minutes before half time, Semenyo equalised for the visitors as he capitalised on a Luke Shaw mistake and carried the ball into the box before firing an effort into the bottom corner.

However, United quickly retook the lead again through a Casemiro header on the stroke of the half time, with Djordje Petrovic at fault for the away side.

Seconds into the second half, Bournemouth equalised for a second time with a goal from Evanilson following some lacklustre defending from Manchester United.

Tavernier scored a third to put the visitors back into the lead from a clever free-kick that caught out Lammens. It was the third time in three seasons that Bournemouth had scored three goals at Old Trafford.

United had chances through Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha, who could have put the hosts back in front but both chances were saved by Petrovic.

Amorim changed formation to a 4-2-4 after Mount and Leny Yoro made way for Lisandro Martínez and Benjamin Šeško.

Bruno Fernandes equalised for United with a beautiful free-kick, before Cunha put the hosts ahead within two minutes later to rescue United’s famous half time record of not losing when leading at the break.

Just as Manchester United were heading towards securing a vital three points, Junior Kroupi scored an equaliser to make it 4-4 to end an enthralling encounter.

Up next for Manchester United is a tough away test against an in-form Aston Villa, who sit seven points ahead of United in 3rd place. Bournemouth host Burnley at the Vitality Stadium before Christmas.
