Manchester United are on the cusp of completing a move for Chelsea midfielder Andrey Santos.
According to The Athletic, United have reached an agreement to sign the 22-year-old.
They will pay an initial £48 million plus £2m in add-ons, with Chelsea retaining a 10 percent sell-on clause.
Santos has agreed personal terms with United and is now set to undergo a medical to complete the transfer.
The young midfielder joined the Blues from Vasco da Gama in 2023 and has since had loan spells at Nottingham Forest and Strasbourg.
The Brazil international significantly enhanced his reputation after an impressive 2025-26 season at Chelsea.
He made 43 appearances across all competitions, bagging three goals and four assists.
Strengthening the midfield has been a priority for United this summer following Casemiro’s departure as a free agent.
They have already wrapped up a deal for Atalanta’s Ederson.
However, with Manuel Ugarte sustaining a long-term injury while playing for Uruguay at the World Cup, more midfield reinforcements are needed.
They missed out on Elliot Anderson and Mateus Fernandes due to their high valuations.
However, Santos is set to join them. The 22-year-old is a top-class midfielder who is highly rated for his physicality, progressive passing and goal threat.
Santos mainly plays as a defensive midfielder but can also operate as a number eight.
