It has been a special season for Real Madrid goalkeeper Andriy Lunin, as he has capitalised on Thibaut Courtois’ injury to make himself a key player.

The 25-year-old Ukrainian international overcame competition from on-loan star Kepa Arrizabalaga to become the undisputed starter in goal in Courtois’ absence and has delivered in a big way.

One of Lunin’s most standout displays came in the UEFA Champions League earlier this month when he kept his team in the game against Manchester City before his penalty shootout heroics secured a semifinal berth for Madrid.

Manchester United, PSG among clubs interested

Lunin’s breakthrough performances at Real Madrid have not gone unnoticed as Fichajes reports that Manchester United and PSG have set their sights on a summer move for the goalkeeper.

Manchester United signed two new goalkeepers last summer in Andre Onana and Altay Bayindir. However, the former has become a concern due to his error-prone displays while the latter is expected to leave.

Meanwhile, PSG have some concerns about the performances of first-choice goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma, who has not always looked assured in goal this season.

As such, Lunin, who has made a solid impression this season, and has a contract that expires in 2025, is now on their radars. Bayern Munich, too, have also shown an interest in the Ukrainian.

Contract renewal likely

Despite the growing interest in Lunin, the 25-year-old is expected to sign a new contract and stay at Real Madrid.

Los Blancos have been impressed by his displays this season and do not wish to let him leave while the player himself appears keen to stay.

As such, despite the interest from some heavyweights of European football, Lunin is expected to stay put at the Santiago Bernabeu.
