Manchester United announce departure of head coach Skinner | OneFootball

Manchester United have announced the departure of head coach Marc Skinner by mutual consent.

The Red Devils revealed the news via a post on their official club website this morning.

The 43-year-old leaves Manchester United after spending the last five years at Leigh Sports Village.

In his time at Manchester United, Skinner has watched the club enjoy plenty of on-field progress. Under Skinner, The Red Devils got to within a win of a first Barclays Women’s Super League title while the club have been regulars in domestic cup finals. Manchester United won a first-ever major trophy in 2023/2024 as they lifted the Adobe Women’s FA Cup.

A couple of strong league campaigns sent Manchester United into European competition. The Red Devils failed to reach the league phase in their first venture into Europe but last season, the club reached the UEFA Women’s Champions League quarter-finals.

Skinner’s time at Manchester United has produced mixed opinions but nobody can doubt that the club have enjoyed an element of success. The target for a new head coach will be to celebrate success more often and to deliver more regular silverware.

Manchester United are thought to be seeking a quick managerial appointment with the new season now just weeks away.
