In a recent report, Gianluca Di Marzio stated that Manchester United are showing interest in Newcastle United star Sandro Tonali. It is believed that the Red Devils are eager to acquire the services of the Italian midfielder this summer.
Tonali has enjoyed a solid campaign at the Tyneside club after he put in a handful of influential displays for them at the centre of the park. The 26-year-old has done well to score three goals and secure seven assists in 53 matches for the Magpies this season across all competitions.
The Italian talent is currently one of the best central midfielders in the Premier League. Thus, it is no wonder that the Red Devils are keen on snapping him up this off-season.
His current contract at St. James’ Park will expire in the summer of 2028, which could make it difficult for Man United to sign him on the cheap in the summer transfer period.

Tonali is a good tackler of the ball and can scan the danger well to make the odd interception for his team inside his half. He doesn’t mind clearing the danger when required and is an accurate passer as well.
The Italian midfielder can shoot the ball with power from long range and can chip in by scoring and creating a handful of important goals for his team. Tonali is primarily a defensive midfielder but can also serve as a box-to-box midfielder if told to do so. He has got a wealth of experience in the Premier League and won’t take much time to adjust to life at Man United.
We can expect Tonali to add more quality and depth to Michael Carrick’s midfield department. He is good enough to serve as an ideal replacement for Casemiro at the Mancunian club next season.
At 26, Tonali has his peak years ahead of him and could be a real asset for the Red Devils in the long run. Thus, Carrick would be wise to move in for him in this upcoming transfer window, but only if he can get him for a reasonable fee.
