The Robins announced the news via a post on their official club website this morning.
The 19-year-old England youth international defender returns to Ashton Gate for a second loan spell. She previously turned out for Bristol City in the early stages of last season before an Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) injury brought her initial loan spell to a premature end. Simpson returned to fitness in the first half of this season and she now needs regular football to rebuild her match sharpness.
In her first spell with Bristol City, Simpson made two appearances for the club in all competitions. She will now be hoping to help The Robins secure an immediate return to the Barclays Women’s Super League in her second spell in the South West.
After adding Simpson to his squad, Bristol City head coach Steve Kirby said “We know the quality Jess has and how disappointing her injury was last season.
“It is great she is able to come back to Bristol City and show the Championship the quality she has. We know she will learn a lot from us, and she is desperate to get back playing.”
It is not yet known whether Simpson will be eligible to make her debut for Bristol City in their Adobe Women’s FA Cup fourth round tie at Arsenal on Sunday.
