Manchester United are showing interest in Aston Villa striker Ollie Watkins (h/t The Athletic).
Talks have reportedly taken place through intermediaries as United consider several attacking options this summer.
United struggled for attacking consistency last season, with Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee failing to live up to expectations.
Victor Osimhen, Viktor Gyokeres and Hugo Ekitike have been linked with the club, but Watkins could be a viable option.
The England international has scored 75 goals in 184 Premier League appearances for Villa.
He has reached double figures in each of his last five seasons, underlining his consistency and reliability.
The 29-year-old registered 17 goals and 14 assists in 54 appearances last term. His numbers prove he can deliver across an entire campaign.
United’s recent transfer activity shows they are open to signing more experienced players. Matheus Cunha (26) and transfer target Bryan Mbeumo (25) support that shift in strategy.
Manager Ruben Amorim is believed to want players who can perform at a high level immediately.
Amorim still prefers a move for Gykeres. However, the Swedish forward wants to join Arsenal.
Watkins’ Premier League record and experience make him an appealing option for the Old Trafford club.
