Manchester United are interested in signing Nottingham Forest centre-back Murillo this summer, according to the Telegraph.

United are looking to strengthen their defensive options and have made background checks on several left-footed centre-backs.

Murillo has earned a burgeoning reputation at Forest as he continues to impress in just his third season in the Premier League.

The 23-year-old has been dubbed ‘the most watchable centre-back in modern football‘ by The Athletic due to his style of play.

The Red Devils also have Tottenham Hotspur’s Micky Van de Ven on their radar. His price tag could drop this summer if Spurs are relegated, and he will not be short of top suitors.

He reportedly prefers to join Liverpool over other Premier League clubs, and Man United may need to focus their efforts on Murillo.

BBC Match of the Day’s Mark Chapman has labelled the defender as ‘the best in the Premier League at goalline clearances’, and the Red Devils could do with his quality at the back.

The Brazil international is comfortable on the ball, and his speed, balance, timing, anticipation, and ability to read danger are among the qualities that have impressed United.

Injuries and suspensions to key players forced interim manager Michael Carrick to play Noussair Mazraoui as a centre-back against Chelsea last weekend.

Murillo could be perfect for them. The opportunity to play Champions League football could persuade him to join them, as it would boost his chances of playing regularly for Brazil.
