In a recent post on X, journalist Daniele Longo stated that Manchester United have a verbal agreement with Valencia midfielder Javi Guerra. However, it is understood that the Red Devils have still not agreed on a deal with the Spanish club and could face competition in the form of other clubs from Spain and England in pursuit of the Spanish midfield ace this summer.

Guerra’s Impressive Form In La Liga Last Season

Guerra enjoyed a solid campaign at the Spanish club after he put in a series of impressive displays for them at the centre of the park. The 22-year-old registered three goals and three assists in 38 matches for Valencia last season across all fronts.

The Spanish talent anchored the midfield well as he made 50 tackles, 15 blocks and 20 interceptions in La Liga. He even distributed the ball relatively well based on his pass completion rate of 77.9% in the Spanish top tier (stats via fbref.com).

His current contract at the Spanish club will run out in the summer of 2027. Therefore, it won’t be easy for Man United to sign him on the cheap this off-season.

Should Manchester United Boss Ruben Amorim Go For Guerra?

Guerra is a solid tackler of the ball and can time his challenges well to earn the ball back for his team inside his half. He usually puts his foot through the ball when the opposition are on the offensive and is a tidy passer of the ball as well.

The Spanish talent can chip in by scoring and creating a few important goals for his team. Guerra mainly operates as a box-to-box midfielder but can also play as an attacking midfielder or as a defensive midfielder if required. However, he might need some time to adapt to the physical side and high intensity of the Premier League.

We can expect Guerra to add more bite and steel to Man United boss Ruben Amorim’s midfield. He might even serve as a decent, long-term replacement for Casemiro, who has entered the final stage of his playing career.

At 22, Guerra has the potential to be a future star in the Premier League. Therefore, it makes sense for Man United to go for a player of his quality this summer.
