In a recent interview with Give Me Sport, journalist Ben Jacobs stated that Manchester United have set their sights on Brighton and Hove Albion left-back Pervis Estupinan. Jacobs said,
“I’ll give you a little bit of an exclusive, which is a new name – and that’s Pervis Estupinan.
“I’ve heard Manchester United made an enquiry and it surprised me, because when you talks about wing-backs or full-backs, Manchester United are well covered on that left side.
“I know there’ll always be a bit of a question mark over Luke Shaw’s fitness, but remember that Diego Leon is a left-sided wing-back coming into the side too. Naturally, Dorgu was bought and he’s seen more as an Amorim player – because what Amorim is looking for in his full-backs and his wingers is those that a comfortable out wide, with pace, speed of thought and speed of feet to cover other positions.
“Ultimately, Amorim’s perspective of this Manchester United squad is it’s not fast enough, and it’s not physical enough. So, Estupinan was a name that was given to me.
“I’m not aware they’ve made any kind of approach to Brighton at this point. I was quite surprised by it, because personally and only in my opinion, I don’t see the left-back as a massive priority for Manchester United.”
Estupinan had a solid campaign at the American Express Community Stadium as he put in a series of impressive performances on the left side of Brighton’s defence. The Ecuadorian talent registered one goal and secured one assist in 36 matches for his current employers last season across all fronts.

The 27-year-old’s current deal at Brighton will expire in the summer of 2027. Hence, Man United would have to make a convincing offer if they are serious about recruiting Estupinan this off-season.
Estupinan is a solid tackler of the ball and can time his challenges well to earn possession back for his side at the back. He usually clears his lines when needed and can strike the ball with venom from long range. Furthermore, Estupinan can deliver some good crosses from the left flank.
The Ecuadorian sensation is primarily a left-back but can also operate as a left-winger if asked to do so. He is quite familiar with the Premier League and won’t take much time to adjust to life at Old Trafford if the Red Devils can devise a way to sign him this summer.
We can expect Estupinan to add more quality to Man United boss Ruben Amorim’s defence. He is good enough to challenge for a regular first-team spot at the Mancunian club next season. Thus, Amorim would be wise to go for a left-back of his quality this summer.
