In a recent report, Fichajes stated that Manchester United have set their sights on Everton striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin. It is believed that the Red Devils have identified the English centre-forward as a target for this summer transfer window.

Calvert-Lewin’s Inconsistent Season In English Football

Calvert-Lewin struggled to find consistency with his performances as the focal point of Everton’s attack in the previous campaign. The English talent could only manage to score three goals and secure a couple of assists in 26 matches for the Toffees last season across multiple competitions.

The 28-year-old did well to average 2.8 shots per 90 minutes in the Premier League and kept 38% of his attempts on target. However, he needs to work on improving his link-up play in the opponent’s half based on his pass completion rate of 62.6% in the top tier of English football (stats via fbref.com).

His current deal at the Merseyside club will run out at the end of this month which could open the door for Man United to sign him on a free transfer this summer.

Should Manchester United Boss Ruben Amorim Move In For Calvert-Lewin?

Calvert-Lewin is proficient at finding some space for himself to get some strikes in on-target. He can create some inviting chances for his teammates to find the back of the net.

The English sensation has got a wealth of experience in the Premier League but is far from a prolific goal-getter in the final third. Hence, he would only serve as a good, short-term addition to Man United’s squad this summer.

At 28, Calvert-Lewin is playing in his prime which makes him a worthy target for the Red Devils to pursue in this transfer window. We can expect him to add more firepower to Ruben Amorim’s frontline.

However, Calvert-Lewin could struggle to earn regular playing time at Old Trafford. He has also been quite injury-prone during his Everton career. Still, there is no doubt that Calvert-Lewin would be a decent, rotational piece in Amorim’s squad and could help the Red Devils get back to challenging for European football in the coming years. Thus, Man United should focus on moving in for him ahead of the new campaign.
