Manchester United and Liverpool are competing to sign Roma star Manu Kone.
The 25-year-old has caught the attention of the two English giants after starting four matches for France at the 2026 World Cup.
According to Corriere dello Sport, Roma have slapped a £51 million price tag on Kone after his excellent displays in North America.
United made a slow start to the summer transfer window, but they have picked up speed in the last few days.
They have completed the £48 million signing of Andrey Santos from Chelsea, and are also close to signing Aston Villa ace Youri Tielemans.
The Red Devils are still looking to sign a third midfielder, with Kobbie Mainoo their only senior option left after Casemiro’s departure and Manuel Ugarte’s long-term injury.
They are exploring a move for Kone, who is in his prime and has proven himself at the top level of football.
The physically imposing midfielder started 28 Serie A games last season, helping Roma secure Champions League football after a seven-year gap.
United face competition from Liverpool, who are also keen on the Frenchman.
The Reds completed the pre-agreed signing of defender Jeremy Jacquet before beating Newcastle United to the signing of forward Victor Munoz.
They are also looking to bolster their midfield and believe Kone to be a good fit.
