Manchester United are planning to loan out Sekou Kone in January to give him much-needed playing chances at first-team level, according to German journalist Christopher Michel.

They signed the teenage defensive midfield sensation from Guidars FC in 2024, and he has since established himself at youth level.

Kone has been training regularly with the Red Devils first-team, but the club want him to pick up needed experience at the top level and are ready to send him out on loan for the second half of the season.

The 19-year-old fractured his eye socket in a National League Cup clash against Tamworth in August and only recently returned to action.

He featured for Man United Under-21s in their 2-0 win over Notts County in the EFL Trophy last week.

Kone was linked with a loan move to Swiss club Lausanne last summer. However, that did not happen, and his recent injury kept him out of action for almost three months.

The Mali youth international recently teamed up with Red Devils wing-back Patrick Dorgu, with the pair taking sessions together with the same private coach.

With Kobbie Mainoo struggling for playing opportunities under manager Ruben Amorim, Kone’s chances of making his senior Man United debut anytime soon appear very slim.

The Red Devils will be fielding their best players during the FA Cup, as it is the only competition they have a realistic chance of winning this term following their early elimination from the League Cup.

Kone could spend the remainder of the campaign without making an appearance for the first team if he remains at the club beyond the winter transfer window.

He will not be short of suitors once clubs are aware of his availability in the coming weeks.
