Manchester United have rejected the chance to sign Liam Delap after being offered the opportunity to sign the Chelsea forward.
Chelsea are looking to offload Delap this summer just 12 months on from his £30m arrival from Ipswich Town.
The West Londoners beat competition from a number of clubs to land Delap last summer, including Manchester United, but the striker struggled during his debut season at Stamford Bridge.
Delap scored just twice in 41 appearances across all competitions and has been deemed surplus to requirements under new head coach Xabi Alonso.
According to TEAMtalk, Manchester United have been approached to gauge their interest in the former transfer target. The Red Devils want to sign a forward to compete with Benjamin Sesko, but have declined the chance to pursue Delap.
Former suitors Everton are reportedly leading the race, while Nottingham Forest and Leeds United have also been named as potential destinations.
Delap scored 12 goals in the Premier League for relegated Ipswich in 2024/25, to spark a scramble for his services last summer. He’s now ready to leave Chelsea, who are closing in on the signing of Brighton forward Danny Welbeck.
