Manchester United staff have stressed how much of an upgrade Benjamin Sesko is on Rasmus Hojlund, according to the Sun.
The Denmark international left the Red Devils on loan for Napoli this summer after Man United agreed to pay €85 million to bring his Slovenian counterpart to Old Trafford.
Hojlund has since notched four goals in six games for Napoli, while Sesko has bagged two goals in nine appearances for Man United.
However, it has been brushed off by those who work with Sesko, with his awareness, ball-winning and distribution drawing praise from Man United coaches.
By contrast, Hojlund’s play off the ball was a major concern for manager Ruben Amorim.
The Dane reportedly considers himself better than Sesko and felt that showing that in training might have given Amorim something to think about.
Hojlund scored ten goals in 52 appearances across all competitions last term, with four coming in the Premier League.
Man United were no longer convinced he was capable of leading them to the next level, but Sesko has yet to prove himself in front of goal despite being regarded as an upgrade on Hojlund.
He bagged 21 goals in the Bundesliga last term and 18 times in 2023-24, but he has yet to demonstrate his quality in England.
He could become a goalscoring machine, but he needs to start delivering the goods sooner rather than later.
