England midfielder is also linked with a move to former club Newcastle ahead of the January transfer window

The 23-year-old midfielder is only in his second season with Forest - he moved south from Newcastle for £15million in July 2024 - but has caught the eye of some top clubs with his performances in the Premier League.

He has become an England regular, too, starting five of the Three Lions’ last six matches since being handed his debut by Thomas Tuchel in September.

Manchester United and Newcastle are known to be interested in securing Anderson’s services as both look to bolster their midfield options, with interest from Champions League sides also expected.

No club will be able to pry him away from the City Ground any time soon, though.

According to a new report in the Daily Telegraph, Forest are set to refuse any approaches for Anderson in the January transfer window.

Even if Anderson can be tempted to leave, interested sides will have to stump up a considerable fee.

Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis will set the club’s asking price and is expected to insist on a ‘market value’ fee, though competition from sides across Europe is expected to push an eventual fee beyond nine figures. His contract is not thought to contain a release clause.

Ruben Amorim is already thought to be looking to alternate targets, with United now linked with Wolves’ Joao Gomes.

Newcastle were all but forced to sell Anderson as they looked to satisfy PSR regulations, but Eddie Howe has made no secret of his desire to bring the midfielder back to Tyneside.

Asked in October if there was any chance of Anderson returning to the northeast, Howe said: “I don’t know, but certainly from my perspective I would love him to. I’m very respectful of the fact he is at another football club and I would never normally talk about a player in that way, so I won’t change that stance.

“But yes, it is very regretful a player from the academy who had given so much – and the club had given so much too, the coaching staff, all those years here and how people tried to develop those talents – for him not to be utilised here is a real shame.”
