Manchester United are looking to bolster their midfield with both Christian Eriksen and Casemiro linked with exits after a disappointing last season.

Erik ten Hag’s shift to a high-transition style did not suit the duo due to their lack of pace with the Brazilian struggling to shield the back four while Kobbie Mainoo’s emergence meant the Dane’s minutes drastically reduced.

United have once again been linked with a move for Juventus ace Adrien Rabiot, two years on from his failed move to the club when Ten Hag first took over.

United had even agreed a deal with the Old Lady but could not agree on personal terms and the deal stalled, ultimately leading to Casemiro arriving instead.

Rabiot again

The Frenchman is set to once again become a free agent with the Turin-based outfit embroiled in negotiations with the player’s mother and agent Veronique over a brand new deal with new manager Thiago Motta a big admirer of his former PSG compatriot.

However, time is running out and multiple clubs are in the fray for the 29-year-old with Tuttosport (via JuveFC) claiming that Real Madrid are also keen on landing the seven-time league winner.

The midfielder had a mixed campaign last term, scoring five times as opposed to 11 the year before. Juve are keen to keep him but his wage demands might prove beyond them.

The Serie A giants are reportedly preparing for life beyond the Nations League winner with Aston Villa star Douglas Luiz and Nice’s Khephren Thuram on their radar.

The report mentions that the Red Devils are likely to offer better wages but the midfield ace is keen on testing himself against the best teams in the biggest competitions.

Real Madrid vs United for Rabiot

Real have Champions League football to offer while the Old Trafford side will be playing in the Europa League next season.

If Rabiot chooses to move to Los Blancos, his chances of earning regular minutes will likely decrease while he is guaranteed to start more games in red.

United simply cannot afford another repeat of what had transpired with the France international’s mother and should move on in case she once again starts making unreasonable demands.

Being a free agent, Rabiot is quite the attractive proposition but with INEOS eyeing younger, Premier League-proven products, surely the Red Devils can do better.
