Manchester United are not planning to let Amad Diallo leave this summer, according to TEAMtalk, despite talk of Sunderland exploring another move.

The 23-year-old remains hugely popular on Wearside after a standout loan in 2022-23 under Tony Mowbray. He scored 14 goals and supplied four assists in all competitions, finishing as Sunderland’s top scorer and curling in a stunning free-kick against Luton Town in the play-off semi-final.

That bond has endured. During United’s recent visit to the Stadium of Light he received a warm ovation, with a Roker End banner reading "Welcome home, Amad", and he was applauded off when substituted.

The affection, and Sunderland’s top-flight return, has fuelled speculation over a reunion. The report said United figures had laughed off suggestions he could be allowed to depart in the upcoming window.

It added that United still see the winger as central to their long-term plans, particularly after his role changed following Michael Carrick’s arrival at Old Trafford. Diallo signed a new deal in January 2025 running until June 2030, with an option of a further year.
