Manchester United host Arsenal in the Premier League this afternoon as the old rivals meet at Old Trafford.

Ruben Amorim’s side ended a three-game winless run in the Premier League by beating Ipswich last time out. On Thursday, the Red Devils drew 1-1 with Real Sociedad in the first leg of their last-16 Europa League tie.

While Amorim has denied that Europe takes priority over the Premier League run-in, Thursday’s second leg is a huge fixture for United. Currently 15th in the table, success in the Europa League is the most realistic route to European football for next season.

Arsenal arrive at Old Trafford in high spirits. Despite dropping 16 points behind Liverpool in the title race, the Gunners thrashed PSV Eindhoven 7-1 in the Champions League on Tuesday. Mikel Arteta’s side became the first team in Champions League history to score 7+ goals in an away knockout stage tie.

Ruben Amorim could again be without Harry Maguire and Manuel Ugarte for the clash. Both missed the midweek draw at Real Sociedad and are unlikely to be risked ahead of the return leg. Patrick Dorgu is suspended following his red card against Ipswich last month.

Amorim gave a positive update on the condition of his squad on Friday. Amad Diallo could return before the end of the campaign, while Kobbie Mainoo, Mason Mount, Luke Shaw and Jonny Evans are stepping up their respective recoveries.

Elsewhere, goalkeeper Altay Bayindir – the hero of Manchester United’s FA Cup win over Arsenal in January – is still sidelined. Lisandro Martinez will not play again this season due to an ACL injury.
