Manchester United host Nottingham Forest on Sunday afternoon in their final home game of the Premier League season.
Michael Carrick wants to finish the campaign on a high note in front of the Old Trafford crowd. The Red Devils have already secured their primary objective of UEFA Champions League qualification for next term.
Carrick has won thirty-three points from fifteen league matches since taking charge in January. Another victory would keep the positive atmosphere intact ahead of a busy summer transfer window.
United are winless in their last four top-flight encounters against the East Midlands club. However, the hosts traditionally perform well in their final home fixtures of the season. They have only lost their final home match once across the last eighteen campaigns.
Michael Carrick confirmed that veteran midfielder Casemiro is fit to make his final Old Trafford appearance. The Brazilian missed the goalless draw at Sunderland with a minor issue but trained fully this week.
Manuel Ugarte also returned to training and is expected to feature in the matchday squad. That said, top scorer Benjamin Šeško remains a minor doubt due to a persistent shin problem.
Matthijs de Ligt has resumed light training but remains further behind in his rehabilitation process. In his absence, Lisandro Martínez and Harry Maguire should continue at the heart of the defence.
Playmaker Bruno Fernandes needs one more assist to equal the Premier League single-season record of twenty. He has created 124 chances this term, the fourth most in a campaign since records began. New signings Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo will look to join Šeško in reaching double figures.
Manchester United predicted XI: Lammens; Mazraoui, Maguire, Martinez, Shaw; Casemiro, Mainoo; Mbeumo, Fernandes, Cunha; Zirkzee.
The Premier League match at Old Trafford kicks off at 12:30 BST on Sunday, 17 May 2026.
