Amorim options bolstered as stars return from injury
Ruben Amorim is expected to name a strong side for his first home match in charge of Manchester United.
Bodo/Glimt travel to Old Trafford on Thursday night in the Europa League, a competition in which United, who sit 15th in the table, still have work to do if they are to seal their place in the knockout stages.
Amorim began life in the United dugout with a draw away at Ipswich on Sunday and in his first European match at the club he is likely to give minutes to players on their way back from injury.
Luke Shaw and Mason Mount have both endured frustrating campaigns to date, but came off the bench at Portman Road and could come into the side from the start here.
Jonny Evans would likely drop out of the back three, while Mount could play in a deeper role alongside Manuel Ugarte, bringing more legs to the midfield after Casemiro and Christian Eriksen were favoured over the weekend.
Amorim has decisions to make with Kobbie Mainoo and Tyrell Malacia, who were both unused substitutes against Ipswich. Malacia will surely be eased back into action after so long on the sidelines, while Mainoo could also have his minutes managed after more than six weeks out.
Marcus Rashford scored inside two minutes of Amorim’s first match and appears to have more confidence than either Rasmus Hojlund or Joshua Zirkzee, while Amad Diallo impressed at right wing-back last time out and there is every chance he starts there again.
Lisandro Martinez and Harry Maguire have been spotted in training in a major boost for Amorim.
Predicted Man United XI (3-4-2-1): Onana; Mazraoui, De Ligt, Shaw; Amad, Ugarte, Mount, Dalot; Fernandes, Garnacho; Rashford
Doubts: Yoro, Martinez, Maguire, Lindelof
