AC Milan got over the line on Tuesday evening, but it was not without any late worry as Nino Marcelli hammered home a strike from outside the box.
There were several things that Milan will dislike from Tuesday’s fixture, but perhaps, they will have used the game to take a further look at Marcelli, who has previously been an interest for the Rossoneri and still could be.
Before the game, his agent spoke about the situation in the past, and although his minutes were limited, he still created an impact and his wonder strike from outside the box almost shook things up as the Rossoneri had a one-goal deficit to defend out of nothing.
An almost instant red card for Slovan minimised any risk of a late comeback though, but the Diavolo will definitely have taken note of Marcelli’s goal given they lacked something like that for most of the game themselves.
In several attacks, Milan looked drone-like, repeating the same actions to no avail, and having a player with the confidence to let loose from distance could be a welcomed addition.
Speaking after the game, Marcelli’s agent joked about the interest in his client to Gianluca Di Marzio.
Backfire after the goal in the Champions League?
“Maybe, I won’t say anything… [laughs, ed] You have to ask the Milan people…”
