According to L'Équipe, Uruguay head coach Marcelo Bielsa briefly lost his temper after his side were eliminated from the World Cup with a 0-1 defeat to Spain on Friday.
The loss followed a mistake by the goalkeeper. La Celeste finished third in Group H, which was not enough to reach the round of 32.
Usually guarded with the media, Bielsa snapped during his post-match interview, criticising a technician he felt was moving too slowly, then swiftly refocused on the team’s display.
He said he had not managed to make the most of the team’s potential and felt they needed greater presence in attack.
Asked what he told Fernando Muslera at half-time to explain the substitution, Bielsa said he told him nothing, adding in his press conference that the goalkeeper had asked to come off.
