Florentino Pérez’s re-election at Real Madrid has cleared the way for a reshuffle involving José Mourinho and Marco Silva. Mourinho is set for Madrid, while Silva is lined up to take charge at Benfica.
According to Glorioso 1904, Pérez had already identified Mourinho as the ideal coach for a new Madrid project and, with victory secured, is moving to make it happen.
Mourinho’s switch to Spain will allow Benfica to press ahead with Marco Silva, Rui Costa’s choice to lead the first team. The 48-year-old’s agreement is almost complete and he should take charge in the coming weeks.
Mourinho’s exit will bring around 15 million euros to Benfica’s SAD, the compensation due for ending his contract early. That income will smooth the operation for his successor’s arrival.
With the picture defined, the hierarchy can now focus fully on planning for the new season. Silva is already working behind the scenes with club staff, analysing the squad and pinpointing priorities for the transfer market.
