The match ended Newcastle 1 Barcelona 2 and it was Marcus Rashford making all the headlines.
A tight match decided by a quality header and a world class stunning strike, both from the Man U loan player.
Marcus Rashford was named man of the match.
Then UEFA following that up with the accolade of Champions League player of the round/week.
The Barcelona star’s performance against Newcastle United rated the best of any player from the 36 Champions League teams that played this midweek.
Marcus Rashford reflecting after Thursday night at St James’ Park:
“It was definitely a great match in a tough stadium.
“We played a very good game.
“For the headed goal, I attacked the space a little earlier because I found that gap in Newcastle’s box, and that’s where I went. I focused on heading it downwards. The header is harder for me.
“I have scored a few more (previously) like the second one.
“I hope to keep scoring a few more.
“For the second goal, the technique was very good, but it’s something I’ve worked on my whole life.
“It’s more about having confidence, shooting, and daring when you’re in front of the goal.
“To score one of those again in a match is perfect.
“We have a team with top players.
“It’s complicated to arrive in a new city, a new culture, but I’m enjoying it and I’m feeling more comfortable each time.
“As time goes by, I’ll improve my football.”
Marcus Rashford named the Champions League player of the round as well, following his performance against United on Thursday night.
