Omari Kellyman is hopeful of making his Chelsea debut before the end of the season as he continues to recover from a hamstring injury according to reports.
Kellyman arrived last summer from Aston Villa for £19m, but the 19-year-old has yet to appear for the club, and has only made two appearances for the development side.
The teenager has been sidelined with a hamstring injury since September and he’s been out far longer than Chelsea are said to have first expected.
Chelsea had planned to send Kellyman on loan to the Championship, but changed their minds and preferred for him to remain at the club and focus on his recovery.
Kellyman is an attacking midfielder and given Chelsea’s current injury issues, he could be another option to potentially help the Blues out over the remainder of the season.
Kellyman has yet to make his debut after joining for £19m last summer.
Football London have reported the former Villa man is really close to making his return to action and that he’s hopeful of making his debut before the end of the campaign.
Chelsea’s bench against Villa on Saturday contained academy players Ishe Samuels-Smith and Shim Mheuka, along with Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, Tyrique George and Josh Acheampong.
The only players who came on were Tosin Adarabioyo and Jadon Sancho, and the lack of options sums up how poorly Chelsea have recruited over the past few windows.

Cole Palmer has looked frustrated in recent weeks and rightly so, and the return of Kellyman could potentially provide Chelsea with the chance to rest the 22-year-old, although why they didn’t just keep Joao Felix or Carney Chukwuemeka is anyone’s guess.
It feels unlikely that Kellyman has a long term future at Chelsea, but it’s been a difficult start to life at Stamford Bridge, and on a personal level for him it would be great if he’s able to make his debut before the end of the season.
