Red Bull are assessing options to replace Jürgen Klopp as Head of Global Soccer, with Markus Krösche and Thierry Henry among the names, if, as expected, he becomes Germany head coach.

Sport Bild reports that Eintracht Frankfurt board member for sport Markus Krösche is the favourite to take the job. His network, eye for talent and transfer expertise are seen as a strong fit.

There have been no concrete talks between Red Bull and Krösche so far. The 45-year-old previously worked as RB Leipzig’s sporting director from 2019 to 2021.

Although Krösche left Leipzig after internal disagreements, his relationship with Red Bull chief Oliver Mintzlaff has since been repaired.

Henry, a former New York Red Bulls forward, is also viewed as a possible successor. He has coached Monaco and France’s youth national teams, is an investor in Italian club Como and works as a pundit.

Another candidate is former Red Bull Salzburg coach Roger Schmidt. The 59-year-old, who has also led Bayer Leverkusen, PSV Eindhoven and Benfica, is currently Global Football Advisor for Japan’s J.League.
