While the manner in which he celebrated an excellent set-piece goal in Saturday's 7-2 league victory over VfL Bochum on Saturday afternoon didn't exactly match his now famous "Joker Mask" maneuver in the Pokal midweek, Omar Marmoush still had a chance to weigh in on a long run to the corner flag after he netted the 2-0 in the 18th-minute.
The Egyptian international thrashed in a free-kick from 22 meters out. The defenders in the Bochum wall weren't exactly in their best form, but Marmoush nevertheless felt as if something special was in store as soon as he struck the ball. The Bundesliga's second leading goal scorer noted that he had been putting a lot of extra work on the training pitch in.
“We're in very good form at the moment, and so am I personally," Marmoush told his Sky interviewer, "I've worked a lot on myself, on my finishing, on my positioning. It was a top performance today. We're in the flow. We're very happy.”
“I sensed when I put the ball on the ground that it would go in," Marmoush continued, "I haven't scored from a free-kick in a very long time. I'm very happy and hope I can do more."
“If we continue to work hard and stay grounded, we can achieve a lot," Marmoush concluded, "Everyone is there, everyone is ready. That shows our team spirit. We'll find out if we're a top team at the end of the season."
